First off, were you born and bred in the Pacific Northwest?
Hmm, yes and no… I was born in Seattle but we moved around a lot when I was a kid. I spent most of my growing years in the Arizona desert, so I actually didn’t learn to snowboard until I moved back to Seattle when I was 20.

How and why did you end up in Portland?
Well, when I was living in Seattle I had some friends that convinced me to come to Portland to surf and ride at Meadows. I ended up coming down weekend after weekend and eventually transferred to Washington State (in the Couv) to finish my bachelor’s degree. I really love Portland more than any other place I’ve ever lived.

So you snowboard mostly at Meadows. Don’t you have a run named after you?
Haha! Yes, Adie’s loop! Highly recommended on a powder day! Meadows is definitely my home resort, I’ve had a season pass there for the last 6 seasons, but T-line’s spring and summer park riding is dope.

I know you drink now because I had drinks with you last night, but you used to be straight edge right?
I was, yeah, for about 6 years. Like a lot of straight edge kids, my life priorities shifted a lot as I matured. I wouldn’t be who I am today without my years of discipline and sobriety, but I also feel compelled to be true to myself as a discerning adult. Plus, Jameson is delicious.

You know that I have an obsession with white sharks. I watch shark week every year religiously.
DUDE, I KNOW, best week on cable TV. I don’t really know where the shark fixation first started, but maybe it stems from the fact that my grandfather was a deep-sea fisherman. I kind-of memorialized him and the white beast by including a shark in the full-sleeve on my right arm. Keep your enemies close, right?

What’s up with that band-aid on your finger?
Uhhhh… work-place hazard? My day job is at WSU, I’m in graduate school for neuroscience. I work in a lab that uses rats to test drugs that relieve pain (drugs like THC)… lets just say rat # HU-45 is now my nemesis. Maybe by the time there is a PhD behind my name the feeling in my fingertip will come back…

So your getting a rat tattooed on the left sleeve?
HAHA… (No comment)

So when you’re not snowboarding or doing scientific research, what else do you do for fun?
Obsessing about and playing music! DJing is pretty much the perfect creative outlet for me… especially considering my utter lack of any actual musical talent! I’ve always LOVED making mix-tapes though, so that and my life-time music collecting prepared me pretty well for being a DJ.

I’d love to hear some of your stuff. Do you have anything online?
Well, my newest mix isn’t quite finished, but here’s a sneak (unmastered) preview.
I also have an older mix of some heavier blog-house type stuff.

So when are you spinning next?
You can catch me on Friday, March 12th at the Skyway Bar and Grill on Hwy 26 in Rhododendron… It will be a throwback dance party, lots of 80’s and 90’s cuts. It’s pretty fun to play a show using all those oldschool party jams… people pretty much go nuts.

Any last words for all the NWB fans out there?
Hmmm lets see… Use your park etiquette? Oh, and if you request Lady GAGA while I’m DJing, there is a distinct possibility you will be vomited upon!
