Nelscott Reef Big Wave Classic joins 2010/2011 Big Wave World Tour

The Big Wave Word Tour has officially sanctioned 5 big wave events so far for the 2010/2011 season. As of now, the 5 events are as follows; Quiksilver Ceremonial Punte de Lobos (Chile), Billabong Pico Alto Invitational (Peru), Mavericks Surf Contest (California), Todos Santos Big Wave Event (Mexico) and new for 2010, the Nelscott Reef Big Wave Classic (Oregon).
The Big Wave World Tour is paddle-in only, which I think is a great call in this day and age which adds alot of respect to the tour as a whole. Paddling into massive 30 foot plus bombs takes not only some serious skill, but you need to have a death wish coupled with lung’s of steel.
I’m excited to watch these contest’s as they unfold throughout the year and will posting updates for each event. I will be doing a special report on the Nelscott Reef contest during the waiting period so check back for updates.
