Beard vs Mustache

Yesterday during the Quiksilver pro at Snapper Rocks on the Gold Coast of Australia, there was a battle going down for the ages. Ego’s were destroyed as the new guard laid claim that they are not just media hype. Million dollar contracts were proven worthy and legit, and probably just doubled overnight, as Dane took out world tour #2 Joel Parkinson and had him in combo land with 2, 9 point scores. Joel basically gave up with one minute left and rode a wave in on his stomach, which I have never seen him do before.

Jordy took out Bede with ease as well. It was as if Bede drank to many beers waiting for his heat. He had been the in-form surfer up till that heat and just fizzled out in front of our eyes. But Jordy was on his game like never before. Fins-free hacks off the top, barrels and carving 360′s with ease. He was on.

Since Dane and Jordy are on the same side of the draw, were going to see them match up in the semi-finals today. But from what I can tell, they are the surfers to beat and are super dangerous for anyone who comes up against them. They have finally got the cobwebs out, and let loose of the rookie jitters.

Personally I want to see Dane take it. He’s one of my favorite surfers on the tour. But Jordy has a mean mustache growing right now so we’ll see. It’s definitely going to be a cracker of a heat. My prediction is that we will see Taj vs Dane in the finals. Don’t miss it.
