Quiksilver Pro at Snapper Rocks

From 26th February through to 10th March, the 2010 Quiksilver Pro presented by Land Rover and the Roxy Pro will take place on the southern end of the Gold Coast’s iconic point break of Snapper Rocks.

The Quiksilver Pro Gold Coast is the perfect ASP “Dreamtour” location. Warm water and white sand, sunshine and sun tans, people and parties, all combined with some of the best sand-bottom pointbreaks in the world, makes the Quiksilver Pro Gold Coast the most eagerly anticipated of all events among both professional surfers and fans alike.

Now in it’s 10th year, the Quiksilver Pro fittingly, is the opening event of the ASP World Tour and really sets the scene for the year to follow.

Previous year world champions are crowned at the ASP banquet, world renowned surf breaks such as Snapper Rocks, Kirra and Burleigh Heads provide the perfect playground for the pros to fine tune their act, before launching another World Title campaign, and the winner of the Quiksilver Pro, in the first event of the year, is always a contender for the World Title crown come Hawaii.

There’s new faces on the tour, adjusting to life on the road, seasoned campaigners who have spent the off-season looking for an edge, new judging criteria, more prize money and then, of course, there’s the super bank. It’s all anyone talks about from the day of the first southerly swell of the year, until the day before the event starts. What’s the bank like, how’s the sand, is it barreling behind the rock, are they pumping sand? It’s no wonder we can all hardly wait for that first heat of the BEST event of the year!
